The Cliffs at Keowee Falls Bridal Photos
Lake Keowee, South Carolina
Bridal photos are a funny thing. Since I’m a candid wedding photographer, the idea of a bridal photo session is the exact opposite of how I normally work. Think: traditional vs non-traditional, or posed vs free. When I first started out, I’m not ashamed to admit that bridal sessions scared me a bit. After all, it requires completely different skills than candid wedding photography. But over the years, I have come to really love doing these (non)traditional bridal sessions.
Why? I think of it as a challenge, but not with the photography – it’s with the posing. My goal is still to create photos that look as natural and un-posed as possible, which is at odds with the whole idea of a bridal photo session which requires specific and careful posing. Not to mention that bridal sessions can be extremely awkward for the bride. Standing around in her wedding dress while a photographer snaps photos while telling her exactly what to do can be unnerving for even the most comfortable people. I really love working with people in a way that allows them to relax a little and be themselves in such a tough situation. Coming out of it with a ton of photos to later see printed and displayed at their wedding is just the cherry on top for me.
Emily had her bridal photos taken here at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls, same location as her wedding. It turned out to be a great, sunny, winter day for bridal photos! So take a look below, and don’t forget to check out some of my other bridal photography as well.
My bridal session blogs are always short and sweet, the way they should be. Thanks for looking! If you are interested in having your own bridal photos taken by me, don’t forget to stop by my contact page and let me know.
