Bridal Photos taken at Christ Church Episcopal | Matthew Pautz Photography
Venue: Christ Church Episcopal
Church weddings can be challenging to wedding photographers. They can be beautiful, but they are difficult to photograph in – The lighting is usually harsh and very low, and most churches forbid the use of flash due to it being disruptive to the ceremony. But this wasn’t a wedding ceremony, so we had a break from the usual rules. Chrissie is getting married in 2016 at Christ Church, but we needed to photograph her bridals a couple months sooner. This is perfect – it gave me a chance to pull out some lighting equipment and really show off how beautiful this church is without having to worry about disrupting a wedding ceremony. And boy, is this church gorgeous. Due to the cold outside and the general unpleasantness of the weather, we were limited to shooting indoors. But this was not a detriment – this church has so much opportunity that we didn’t even need to shoot outside!
This was my second time working with Chrissie, who along with her fiance Mark, is quickly turning into one of my favorite clients. She has a very sweet, open, and fun personality – which really comes in handy during posing. Bridal photos can be very awkward – it can be strange to sit there holding a pose for extended times. But Chrissie was able to move past that and ended up with some of my favorite bridal photos I’ve ever taken!
