Hannah and Joe
“There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment.”
– JÁNOS ARANY
In a sense, wedding photography is the easiest hardest job I can think of. The concept is simple – Find the beauty in one of the biggest days of a couple’s lives and capture it. It becomes difficult because of things like stress, timeline restrictions, weather, and the thousands of variables that can change in a single instant that alter the course of the day. And that’s not even accounting for the technical aspects of photography and artistry. But every once in a while, everything will align and come together, and literally everything will be perfect from sunrise to sunset…a wedding photography grand slam. I recently was honored with the task of capturing Hannah and Joe’s wedding, and the only way I could describe the day is exactly that – a grand slam of perfection, from the couple to the weather, to the location.
I gush on my clients a lot (because I love my clients), and for good reason – I work with some of the best people in the world. Hannah and Joe are these people – spend 5 seconds in a room with either of them and you will be radiating happiness. They are the kind of people that you want to get to know better, you want to spend time with, and you want to be friends with. Some people just have that gift – and judging by their friends/family that attended and the emotions I saw that day, I am not the only one that thinks so.
So let’s start with the facts. Fact: Hannah and Joe are perfect for each other, and have been together for 10 years starting out as high school sweethearts. Fact: They chose a beautiful location for their wedding – The Grand Highlands at Bearwallow Mountain, with gorgeous mountain views and scenery that perfectly matches their interests and personalities. Fact: The weather that day was flawless with the perfect overlap of sunny and cloudy, and just the right temperature. See what I mean? A wedding photography grand slam.
Grand Highlands provided the perfect backdrop for a wonderful wedding day. Hannah and Joe grew up and met in this area, and they could not have picked a better place for their wedding photos. This is a somewhat lesser-known wedding venue for Asheville wedding photographers…so it is even more of a treat for Greenville wedding photographers like myself to be invited to a place like this. And while the mountains themselves aren’t as much of a focus as in say, my mountain engagement sessions, they still provide a beautiful and calm atmosphere for every photo.
This group was fun-loving, happy, and wonderful to work with. Hannah was possibly the happiest bride I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, and that is saying a lot. Hannah owns a wedding planning and design company (!), Like the Dazzling based out of Atlanta, Georgia. She had one of the most brilliantly prepared wedding day timelines I have seen in a long time, which allowed me to spend as much time as I wanted photographing various parts of their day.
Joe and Hannah had one of the sweetest no-look letter exchanges I’ve seen before. It is a shame I can only share a few shots on this short blog.
As you can see, Hannah and Joe had a truly remarkable wedding. A memorable wedding is all the the details. Details like their perfect mountain backdrop, in an area where they grew up together. Details like their live band, the food and drink they enjoyed, and the energetic reception. Details like the Sangria bar and their wedding arbor that were built by the father of the bride. And of course, the most important details – a group of loving friends and family to perfectly complement their love for each other.
