Wyche Pavilion Reception
Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church Wedding
Anh + Will
Greenville, South Carolina
Welcome to Anh and Will’s wedding – This one is going to quite a journey. They had their ceremony at a beautiful, newly-constructed Catholic church (Our Lady of La Vang), and they chose the Wyche Pavilion for one of the wildest wedding receptions I’ve ever witnessed. These are two extremes of course – traditional mixed with non-traditional, but if anyone could pull it off without a hitch it would be Anh and Will. I had a very hard time choosing the teaser photos at the beginning of this post…even harder than normal, because their day was so full of beautiful moments, details, and love. After all, how can I sum up such an incredible, transcending story with just a few photos? This day has been 11 years in the making. That’s right, Will and Anh have been together for 11 years, with most of those years being long distance. As if that wasn’t hard enough, they both juggled difficult classes and careers – Anh being a cancer researcher at Emory, and Will attending medical school at MUSC in Charleston. I can’t imagine the stress and difficulty that situation would create. And yet, here they are today, celebrating the happiest day of their lives together. To say these two are strong people is an understatement.
They both get bonus points from me for choosing one of my favorite reception venues: The Wyche Pavilion in downtown Greenville SC. Why do I love Wyche Pavilion receptions so much? Well that can be answered by looking at the photo above, and then the photo below. Easy walking access to gorgeous downtown Greenville, beautiful views, and incredible styling for receptions. It doesn’t hurt that Anh and Will had the Wyche Pavilion decorated extraordinarily well (Thank you to Samantha and Debra at B&R Events for that!), and those decorations hanging from the roof are the closest I will ever get to photographing floating lanterns. All it was missing was the happy couple themselves. When they arrived, everything came together perfectly.
Of course you’re here (hopefully) to see the photo proof….so I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from Anh and Will’s Our Lady of La Vang Ceremony and Wyche Pavilion reception below:

The day began at Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church…a brand new church, and an excellent choice to start the festivities. The church is so new that this may have been the first wedding they have hosted.
After the ceremony, we all headed downtown to the Wyche Pavilion for the remainder of the wedding and reception. Stopping in nearby Falls Park for some photos first was a great idea…and yes, that is Anh trying (and succeeding!) to pick up Will during their couple’s photos. That was s definite first.
For the cocktail hour, Anh wore a traditional Vietnamese wedding dress while she mingled with guests – another stunning example of traditional mixing with non-traditional.
Their wedding day concluded with a very active reception at Wyche Pavilion. There was no shortage of fun, dancing, and moments here. They really know how to party.
How about that bubble gun exit? Bubbles aren’t as much fun when they’re fired directly into your face, so their photos here have a bit of an action movie vibe. But it’s a great way to sum up a wonderful, wild wedding reception at Wyche Pavilion. Thank you Anh and Will!
