Elizabeth + Noah
Asheville, NC
Elizabeth and Noah are a rare couple. Non-traditional and fun-loving, there is something unique to them that just made me feel good inside working with them. I will be the first to admit my style of wedding photography isn’t for everyone. In a world full of bright, happy, pastel and film-style wedding photos, I have always preferred a darker, artistic, romantic style that I feel can truly resonate with a couple’s personality. I’m not talking bad about the other styles in any way of course, because different people have different approaches to how they view life. But ever since I made the decision to limit the number of weddings I photograph each year, I have had to be more selective about the couples I choose to work with. I want to make sure the style I photograph in is what they are truly looking for, because I want everyone to be completely happy with their wedding photos without having to worry or second guess myself about the way I work. This is somewhat of a formality of course, because I have always talked about how amazing my couples are, and how I have been blessed with clients who are a wonderful fit for my style of photography. But I have never had a couple be a better match than Elizabeth and Noah.
Not only did Noah and Elizabeth like this photography style, they embraced it. They requested darker, edgier wedding photos. They wanted me to push the envelope more than usual. And why? because it matched their personalities, who they are as people. They didn’t want cookie cutter wedding photos, because they are not a cookie cutter couple. There were many firsts for me at their wedding. The first time photographing a black wedding dress and veil. The first time working without a wedding party. The first time photographing an outdoor, candlelight ceremony after sunset. The first time photographing a Crest Center wedding, with the equally stunning Renaissance Asheville hotel. But more than anything else, this was the first time I felt completely unequivocally trusted to photograph whatever I wanted in any way I wanted to without worrying about whether or not the couple would love the results. And what were the results? A happy couple with wedding photos that were an extension of their natural selves, and a happy wedding photographer who felt like a kid in a candy shop, being able to push the envelope and try new ideas he otherwise wouldn’t be able to try. Win-win in my book.
But don’t just take my word for it – check out Elizabeth and Noah’s Crest Center wedding photos below!

As always, I like to start with one of my favorite couple’s photos.
Elizabeth and Noah’s day began at the gorgeous Renaissance Asheville Hotel, a glamorous location for getting ready photos with a beautiful view of downtown Asheville NC. I couldn’t think of a better location to begin a wedding day.
Elizabeth and Noah had a a gorgeous idea for their wedding ceremony – a quick candlelight ceremony on the Crest Center Deck, overlooking the lights of downtown Asheville right after sunset. I loved this not only for the idea itself, but for the challenge of photographing it. The clouds added an air of mystery that was a perfect extension of the day as a whole.
Their wedding reception took place indoors at the Crest Center. If you know anything about these two, it’s that they wanted a memorable party. Their reception was a perfect blend of high energy, drunk dancing, personalized wedding shots/shotglasses, and really showed how important their friends and guests are to them. it was a great end to their night.
I hope you enjoyed these photos from Elizabeth and Noah’s Crest Center Wedding! They were a a joy to work with, and I wish nothing less than a perfect 2017 for them. Congratulations!
