Indigo Hall Wedding Photos
Spartanburg Wedding Photography
Emily + Sean
Emily and Sean’s Spartanburg wedding at Indigo Hall was one for the books. If you know anything about me and how I photograph weddings, you’ll know I love 3 things when it comes to wedding photography: Adventurous couples, fun-loving guests, and extra time. LOTS of extra time. Adventurous couple? Check – I think their mountain engagement session definitely qualifies them for that. In fact, theirs was still one of the more adventurous sessions I’ve done, and sweating through that hike with 40lbs of camera equipment is something that will stick with me for a long time.
Fun-loving guests? Check on that front too – After getting to know the wedding party and families the night before at their rehearsal dinner, I felt like I was instantly adopted into the group. I don’t normally get to hang out with anyone due to my schedule, so this was a rare treat for me. Not only did it make things easier for me to photograph everyone on the wedding day, but it seemed to put everyone more at ease. And the more at ease people are, the more easygoing they are on the day-of…another plus in my book.
And when it came to time, we definitely had a lot to go around. I have always believed that a lack of time is the number one reason why couples don’t get the best wedding photography possible. Rushing is the enemy of creativity, and even more so when it comes to candid wedding photography where you can sometimes work for an hour without getting a meaningful, unscripted moment. Emily and Sean (with the help of their planner Amanda) built one of my favorite wedding photography timelines I’ve ever worked – Not only did everything run according to schedule like a well-oiled machine, but we had time to lose if it didn’t. More time meant a happy couple, an un-rushed wedding party, and one happy photographer.
So what do you get when all 3 of my favorite aspects of wedding photography converge? Well sometimes photos do better than words:

Emily chose the brand new AC Marriott Hotel in downtown Spartanburg for her getting ready location. This was my first time here (obviously), and I’m definitely a fan. Large suites, a nice view, and plenty of natural, flattering light. I would highly recommend a suite here if you are looking for a good location to get ready for a Spartanburg wedding.
And speaking of being in Spartanburg, it just happened to be a block away from Emily and Sean’s wedding venue: Indigo Hall. I have photographed weddings at the Indigo Hall before, but this was my first time photographing a ceremony in their indoor ceremony room. It was a beautiful location for a Spartanburg wedding ceremony, and incredibly convenient since we were able to hop upstairs for the reception. Not having to worry about multiple locations really simplifies my life as a wedding photographer. And a simplified day = more time photographing and less time packing equipment. This is time that directly went to photographing Emily’s first look with her father, shown below. Not having to rush through things like this is why I love open ended timelines and all-day weddings. You can’t stage moments like these.
I hope you enjoyed this look into Emily an Sean’s beautiful wedding at Indigo Hall in Spartanburg! It is always so difficult to show everything I want to show in these short blogs, and even more so when I am surrounded by so many wonderful people. Congratulations to the happy couple, and thanks for letting me share your day with you!
