Whitney + Brandon
Greenville, South Carolina
Ah Whitney and Brandon….I don’t even have enough space here to talk about how interesting a couple they are. A quick summary will show that Whitney is a doctor of optometry with an affinity for horseback riding, and Brandon flies planes for fun. The things I would do to listen to their stories over a night of cocktails! Needless to say, they are also a busy, active couple who enjoy the interesting side of what life has to offer. Both being adventurous people, we had a pretty amazing time at their mountain engagement session – still one of my favorites to date. I knew their Viewpoint at Buckhorn Creek wedding would be just as fun too – and I was definitely not disappointed.
Whitney and Brandon chose The Viewpoint at Buckhorn Creek in Greenville SC for their wedding. If you haven’t been here before, it is a gorgeous, sprawling venue with one of the most beautiful settings for a wedding ceremony I have seen yet. There is always a bit of trepidation when I photograph a wedding at a new venue. It’s tricky because I always research or visit the location beforehand to plan out the wedding photography, but I also want to walk in with an open mind and no preconceptions about how the photos should look. The last thing I ever want is to shoot the ‘same old’ wedding photos as everyone else. I believe photography should be a reflection of the environment and the uniqueness of couple themselves, and a couple as interesting as Whitney and Brandon deserves nothing less.

The Viewpoint at Buckhorn Creek was the perfect setting for Whitney and Brandon’s wedding – a perfect mix of natural beauty and timeless rustic styling. Everywhere I looked was a new opportunity for unique wedding photography, especially when the sun went down.
Their ceremony was perfect. Perfect spring weather, the perfect mix of sun and clouds, and quite frankly, perfect details. The wedding programs were an especially unique touch, and something I’ve never seen before. This was my first viewpoint at buckhorn creek wedding, but I really hope to get back to photograph here again soon.
Yes that is a propeller, another unique element to their wedding. Apparently the idea was to have guests sign the propeller (which was a gift), but it turned out to be too nice of one to write on. I thought that was an interesting story.
Stealing away from their reception for a few minutes resulted in some beautiful night time couple’s photos – one of my favorite things to do at a wedding.
I had an amazing time photographing Whitney and Brandon’s beautiful Viewpoint at Buckhorn Creek wedding, and I hope to be back here very soon in the future. Cheers to the amazing couple!
