Avenue Event Space Wedding

Avenue Wedding Photos
Natashja and Bradley
Greenville, SC
When it comes to wedding photography in Greenville, I like a few different types of wedding venues: Outdoor/natural and Modern. Well, actually I like any wedding venue that shows something a little more unique than an empty room, but those two styles above are my favorites. Really, I am an easy photographer to please..I just need something to work with and I am happy. So of course I was extra happy when I heard about Avenue opening up right in the middle of downtown Greenville…from what it sounded like, Avenue had everything I enjoy photographing and more. Both a modern interior space for me to get creative with, and an outdoor rooftop/terrace with a stellar view of downtown Greenville. But because it was a new wedding venue at the time, I knew it could be some time before I was able to photograph a wedding at Avenue.
That all changed when Natashja and Bradley contacted me to photograph their wedding at…you guessed it: Avenue Event Space. But that’s not all that excited me about their wedding photography of course – These two also have very open, creative minds and wanted art to be a focal point from the very start. I mean, Natashja’s bridal portraits showcased both her talent for ballet dancing and her talent for playing the violin…(Blog coming soon, so make sure you check back!). Plus they had choreographed their first dance with the help of one of my favorite local dance instructors, Susan Palmer (She is currently teaching this two-left-footed wedding photographer how to swing dance). But the real kicker was that Natashja and Bradley chose to have their wedding ceremony at sunset…right up on the rooftop of Avenue. The idea of watching a stellar sunset behind them while the couple said “I do” would be enough to make any wedding photographer giddy. And if you know anything about Avenue, you know it has a one-of-a-kind cityscape view of the best downtown Greenville has to offer.
So enjoy this quick view into Natashja and Bradley’s gorgeous wedding at Avenue in Greenville, it’s well-worth the look!

Wedding Ceremony at Avenue Greenville
As you can see above, Natashja chose Avenue for her getting ready photos too, which is always a good idea in my book. The less I have to move around, the better. Avenue Event Center has a great modern style which is surprisingly rare among Greenville wedding venues, so I really enjoyed getting to play around with the environment a bit. And despite accidentally locking myself in a side stairwell, I was impressed with the building’s modern security controls as well.
As for the wedding ceremony setup, it was perfect. We had amazing weather all day long, which meant the rooftop sunset ceremony they planned went off without a hitch. And remember how at the beginning I said I enjoyed both natural/outdoor wedding venues and modern venues? Well this was (sort of) a combination of both. Modern interiors, but the chance for a somewhat outdoor feel as well on the rooftop meant I had a lot to photograph at this wedding. It was the perfect choice for these two, and I loved being a part of their wedding here at Avenue.

Avenue Wedding Reception
The key focus of Natashja and Bradley’s wedding was definitely the weddingreception. It was quite an event, packed with activities from start to finish. Here is where the modern style of Avenue’s reception space was most apparent. I am no stranger to wild wedding receptions, and theirs did not disappoint on that front.
Due to the logistical challenges of having a wedding after daylight savings has ended without a first look also meant they had to come back later for their couple’s photos…at night. While this is always a challenge, one of my specialties is photographing weddings in low light (or none at all!), and I absolutely adore night photos. I feel just as comfortable at night on a rooftop as I do in the middle of the day. Even when it started raining, I couldn’t help but smile a little and be thankful that I get the opportunity to work with couples who love the same challenges I do.

So there you have it – Natashja and Bradley’s unique wedding at Avenue Event Space in Greenville. I hope you enjoyed reading about their wedding as much as I enjoyed photographing it. Thanks for tuning in!
