The Greenville Shrine Club wedding
St Paul Catholic Church wedding ceremony
Cindy + Carlos
Upstate South Carolina
Wow, there is a lot to cover for Cindy and Carlo’s wedding. Traveling through two counties, 5 locations, and 15 hours, this was one epic wedding. Add in a Catholic mass wedding ceremony in Spartanburg, traditional reception dances, rainy couple’s photos, and an 8+ hour reception at the Greenville Shrine Club, and theirs ranks among the wildest wedding celebrations I’ve photographed to date. Needless to say, I needed an entire day to recover from this one, and I was happy for every second of it. I enjoy photographing all-day weddings for a reason, and that reason is to be able to see and show everything from the first moment to the last…there is no better way to tell a story through wedding photography. And although I am limited in space on this blog, Cindy and Carlos’ wedding was an epic story for sure.

The bridesmaids chose a Spartanburg favorite for their getting ready photos – The Spartanburg Marriott. I always enjoy working at this hotel for one reason: The extra space! And as you saw above, there were a lot of people helping out today.
After everyone was dressed and ready, they were off to their ceremony location at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Spartanburg. I have photographed Catholic mass ceremonies before and knew the progression, but this was my first one 100% in Spanish! Since my Spanish is limited to “Donde es el bano”, it was interesting watching the flow of the ceremony from a different perspective. It also didn’t hurt that the church they chose was an absolutely gorgeous setting for the wedding ceremony. As far as wedding photography goes, that’s the best I can hope for.
After the ceremony, it began to rain a bit: slowly at first but increasing heavier and heavier as the afternoon went on. I’m sure every couple hopes for a sunny wedding, but part of the beauty of wedding photography is the unique look that inclement weather brings. Since we had some time leftover after the ceremony, we made a quick stopover at Cleveland Park in Spartanburg to play a bit in the rain. The things we do for the sake of photos, right?? I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I don’t have a trunk full of clear umbrellas for nothing!
After that, it was a 40 minute limo ride to their wedding reception at The Greenville Shrine Club. This was my first time photographing a reception at the Shrine Club, and it did not disappoint. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Shrine club was the only place in town large enough to host such a massive party. Cindy and Carlos really know how to throw a wild reception! Seriously, if you enjoy lively reception photography, don’t skip to the bottom – This was one of my favorite receptions I’ve ever photographed.
I hope you have enjoyed this quick look into Cindy and Carlo’s beautiful Greenville Shrine Club wedding! It was one epic journey from start to finish, and I was extremely happy to have been able to witness these two tie the knot. Congratulations to Cindy and Carlos!
