The Rutherford Wedding Photography
Lydia + Ty
If you have been following my wedding blogs (Does anyone read these??), you will know I love two things when it comes to wedding photography: Awesome couples, and beautiful wedding venues. Now to be fair, all my couple’s turn out to be pretty awesome to work with – Lydia and Ty are no exception to that. But even though my couples share a lot of characteristics, every single one has a completely unique vibe. What was Lydia and Ty’s vibe? They were possibly the sweetest couple I have ever photographed. There were so many meaningful and emotional moments throughout their wedding that I found myself caught up in the moment a few times myself. Hearing about their amazing relationship through their reception toasts was an incredible treat. As a wedding photographer, it is not always possible to get to know my couples on a more personal level, so being a part of these emotional moments was an incredible treat for me. And while I like to keep the personal details to a minimum in these blogs, it should suffice to say that I loved being a part of their day together.
But what about the second part – Beautiful wedding venues? Well this wedding was extra special because it was a chance to work at a new Greenville wedding venue called The Rutherford. I have actually been looking forward to photographing a wedding at The Rutherford all year. This venue was a rare treat for me – a place that allows me to restrict and control the lighting in a way that others can’t so I can photograph in my signature style easily. My goal is to photograph the mood and emotion of the day, and The Rutherford allows me to accentuate these details. And for a wedding like Lydia and Ty’s, this was incredibly important to me.

Lydia and her bridesmaids began their day at her apartment for hair/makeup. Can you believe the photos below were taken in a cramped bathroom? I love how wedding photography constantly challenges me with new situations. And I love being able to experiment in ways that allow me to get the same quality in challenging locations as I could anywhere else.
One benefit of photographing a wedding at The Rutherford is it’s relatively close proximity to Falls Park, in downtown Greenville. That is the location they close for their first look together, as well as their subsequent posed photos. Falls Park has it’s own challenges for wedding photography, but it is always a treat to be able to add some more variety to a couple’s wedding photos.
After the first look, it was time to move back to The Rutherford for the ceremony and reception. This turned out to be a beautiful location for both, and right up my alley when it comes to wedding photography. I had a ton of fun working here, especially for their couple’s photos afterwards. Of course, Lydia and Ty made everything so easy for me, and having extra time to experiment with their photos really made the difference. I love my couples!
Lydia and Ty’s Rutherford Reception was exactly what I was hoping it would be: A beautiful celebration of the couple and their new lives together. Their reception toasts were meaningful and plentiful. The setting was perfect. I was honored to even be here, sharing the day with so many wonderful people. And some of those kids can really dance. Seriously check out the photos below, they put grown adults to shame.
I hope you enjoyed this preview into Lydia and Ty’s beautiful wedding at The Rutherford! I hope these photos help convey the couple’s love and happiness everyone felt that day. And don’t forget to check out some of the wedding vendors that helped make their day possible:
