“This day I will marry my friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love”

Please note: due to the size and length of Chrissie and Mark’s wedding, this blog post will feature more preparation and reception photos than normal.

Every wedding is different and unique. The details, the venues, the couples…an infinite combination of options are available to each bride; which makes being a wedding photographer in Greenville SC especially unique. Greenville has a number of amazing locations and venues for weddings, more than a typical city of Greenville’s size. Greenville is also home to the most amazing couples I’ve ever met. And among them, you have Chrissie and Mark – two especially amazing people who completely personify the uniqueness of a wedding in Greenville. Please follow below for some of my favorites from their amazing day.
(continued below)
As you can see above, the details Chrissie and Mark had for their wedding were second to none. The Westin Poinsett hotel provided a perfect backdrop for these morning details, with beautiful morning window light streaming in from the far side. I love photographing details because they work to show the entire day as a whole. And that is what I love about wedding photography – having the ability to document one of the most important days in a couple’s life. Good wedding photography is about making you re-live the experience over and over…and that includes everything involved, from the jewelry, to the shoes and dress, even the bridal brunch that you can see in the above photo. Everything is a part of the larger picture and deserves attention.
You will see lots of preparation photos in this blog…this is because I was lucky enough to spend the entire morning with the bridal party, and was present for everything from the bridal brunch to hair and makeup. This is something I greatly enjoy doing! Not only do I get to know everyone a little bit better, but I get lots of opportunities for candid moments that others may not be willing to sit around for to capture. I love these moments – they are what makes the day truly special. Even the simplest glance, a seemingly simple laugh – these are all things that tell the story of the day. They give context and lay the foundation to everything else.
Business as usual for the guys getting ready. The girls definitely have the more difficult job here. Special thanks to my second photographer Angel of Angel Ruff Photography for her help covering the guys! I love working with Angel for a reason, and the groomsmen had nothing but good things to say about her.
Chrissie and Mark are two very interesting people. Mark is a criminal defense lawyer and Chrissie works in IT, an interesting combination to say the least. And while their careers are all business, their personalities are anything but. These two are the most fun-loving people you could ever hope to meet. 15 seconds in a room with them is all you need to feel welcome and at home. Two genuinely funny people, they had me legitimately laughing all throughout the day. They are both passionate about their lives, and each other – I hope you can tell this from the photos you see below. These two really know how to throw a party!
Not only themselves, but their friends and family are all top notch people. I think I will always remember Chrissie thanking me and telling me I was a breath of fresh air during a particularly stressful and tiring day. And at the end of the night packing up all my lighting gear, having the family coming up to me to thank me for my hard work, and having them tell me that my passion for photography shows in how I work. These are compliments I take to heart, and are the reasons why I love being a wedding photographer as much as I do. A wedding photographer’s job is not just taking photos…anyone can do that. A professional has to be there for the guests, they have to know how to adapt and react to changing environments under high stress and still produce quality images even when things go completely wrong. In such a competitive, crowded market, these little details are not always noticeable. I was floored and honored to receive such a compliment. And needless to say, I enjoyed every second of working with this amazing group of people.
I hope you enjoyed these images from Chrissie and Mark’s wedding!
