Wyche Pavilion wedding photos

Bethany + Todd

If you know me at all, you know I love photographing weddings at the Wyche Pavilion.  I photograph here a lot too – I am very familiar with the location, and it is one of the most unique wedding venues in downtown Greenville.  It allows for a unique mix of indoor and outdoor, being sheltered from bad weather while still showing the beautiful surroundings of downtown Greenville SC.  And while it does get hot in the Summer, it is still shaded enough to give a little reprieve from the elements.  Add in an accessible location that is convenient to Falls Park, Larkin’s Catering, and the option of having your wedding ceremony right on the Reedy River, and you have the recipe for a ‘uniquely Greenville’ wedding.

Bethany and Todd thought the same thing, and having their wedding ceremony at the Wyce Pavilion was the cornerstone of their wedding plans.  Another cornerstone was a loooot of alcohol and a truly awesome reception, but we will get to that later…
This active couple had something even more unique to remember their wedding.  Later this summer, The Wyche Pavilion will be remodeled and transformed into a totally new wedding venue.  So not only did Bethany and Todd get to celebrate their new lives together in a unique place, but they were also one of the final couples to experience this classic wedding venue before the remodel.  No one knows yet what it will look like afterwards, and I do not have any more weddings to photograph here before the re-design so I know in the future that I will miss the old Wyche Pavilion…A feeling I believe I share with Bethany and Todd.  So it was an honor to share a day like this – one final celebration at the old Wyche Pavilion – with such an incredibly dynamic couple.  And as you will see very soon, these two really know how to throw a celebration.

Both the bridesmaids and groomsmen got dressed at ready for the wedding at The Embassy Suites Riverplace, within walking distance of the Wyche Pavilion.  As a wedding photographer, I always appreciate simple plans like this – it allows me to think less about the logistics, and more about capturing photos.  Special thanks Justin, my second photographer for capturing the groomsmen’s photos during the day.

After Bethany and Todd’s sweet first look together at Falls Park, it was time for the ceremony.  Jennifer of Love this Little City coordinating did a fantastic job decorating the Wyche Pavilion for both the ceremony and reception.  See why I am going to miss this place?

Wyche pavilion is one of my favorite wedding venues when it comes to wedding photography – there is a unique challenging to blending flash with the natural ambient light that I love, and the results are unique.  It helped that Bethany and Todd themselves were the perfect mix of active/fun-loving and sweet/emotional.  Seriously, these two can’t take a bad picture together….ever.
